You are what you eat: Mga Kuwentong Pagkain goes to Canada with live lectures and cook-alongs

Filipino-Canadians and other Filipinos around the world will have a special opportunity to learn more about the Filipino food culture through a three-part lecture and cook-along series, hosted by the Mama Sita Foundation, in collaboration with the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto, Canada.

The event, with hosts Exploring Filipino Kitchens Podcast Nastasha Alli as well as father-daughter duo Paolo and Malaika Paculan helping navigate the intricacies of Filipino food. Topics include a brief overview of Filipino food, the importance of rice, what our Filipino ancestors ate, and the many different foreign influences incorporated into Filipino dishes.

Each session will also give participants a chance to make some of the dishes, from home. Live cooking demonstrations from select chefs will help guide those interested in making Filipino dishes from home. Some ingredients used in the recipe will be provided for by the Mama Sita Foundation, through the Toronto Consulate.
The sessions will be on July 23, August 6, and August 20, 2021 at 7:30 PM (GMT -4) for participants in Toronto, and July 24, August 7, and August 21, 2021 at 7:30 AM (GMT +8) for participants in Manila.
